This novel that Hemingway wrote I really enjoyed, I have read this novel in high school. When I asked my friend how this book was and he replied with "Its very boring" I thought I would hate it, and boy was I wrong. This is about an old fisherman who has not caught anything for the past three months, but he decides to go out to see one last time. On this last trip, he encounters the greatest marlin of all time, and he is determined to redeem himself and to catch this fish. The fish, however, does not goo down without fighting first. Santiago (the old man) is struggling with the fish for three days straight, as the fish slowly pulls him. When the fish finally tires out, Santiago is finally able to kill and catch him. On his way back to land however, a group of sharks surrounds the fish and Santiago. The sharks are there to eat the fish Santiago has tied up on the side of his boat. Santiago tries to fight them off, but its to no effect, there is simply too many sharks for him to fight at once. The sharks eventually destroy Santiago's fish and all Santiago is left with is the skeleton. This really made me feel bad for Poor old Santiago, and this is why I liked this so much.
